This Yamaha 821 is in great shape! Yamaha has been making bassoons since the 1980s. The YFG-821 is a model that is now discontinued. It is patterned after the design of a pre-war Heckel bassoon, so could be considered a thin-wall bassoon. It has a light and easy response, and a flexibility of tone color and timbre that is very reminiscent of earlier Heckel bassoons. Besides Heckels, this instrument could be most easily compared to a Fox Model II or 201. While the sound may not be as powerful as that of an 811 or 812, it has an easiness of playing that is unmatched by those instruments, even now.
