This unplated Wolf Grundmann bocal is a rare thing to see! Not many of these bocals appear on the used market. Forged bocals are very sturdy, due to the method of manufacture. This is why the bocal has such thick walls. Typical bassoon bocals are .5 or .6mm thick. Because of the unique shape, Grundmann bend bocals are ergonomic and comfortable, but you do have to adjust your playing position quite a bit. A side benefit of these unique bocals is their exceptional performance in the extreme high register, and this bocal is no exception.
