The Fox Model 101 is a thin wall, short bore instrument just like the model 201.

About This Bassoon

This is a unique bassoon, made specially for a long-time employee at Fox and handled with incredible care. It has a special guitar lacquer, which Fox only used for a handful of instruments due to its fragility. This instrument has been immaculately maintained and the original lacquer is in great shape! Also of note is that under the thumb F# spatula, the key maker engraved their initials, giving this horn a bit more character.

In addition to the extra rollers that the Fox 101 comes with, this instrument is also the 5-piece long bell cut, and has an Ab-Bb trill. The most unique key feature is the single spatula for low Eb and low C# keys, which is very ergonomic and comfortable. 

This is one of the best-playing Fox bassoons we've come across. Its response is light and easy, feels very in-tune with itself, and has a warm, buttery sound reminiscent of the pre-war Heckels the Fox 101/201 are patterned after.

The asking price on this bassoon is $25,235, which includes the check price of $24,500 + 3% card processing fees. Considering the mint condition of the bassoon and its quality, we think this is a fair price.
