King Contrabassoon Reed

King Contrabassoon Reeds are the highest quality Contrabassoon reeds and are intended for students, advanced players and professionals. The King Contrabassoon Reeds at MMI come in the Fast 2 shape and have been scraped to have great responsiveness, dynamic range, and stable intonation. All reeds go through testing on a Fox 920 Contrabassoon and come ready to play. This reed features a 22-gauge first wire, and 20-gauge second and third wires.

Changes in humidity, temperature or altitude during shipping may alter the reed slightly and are out of our control. All reeds will be carefully packaged and shipped securely. No returns for used reeds for health reasons, but damaged reeds can be returned within 10 days with a photo of the defect

Additionally, adjustment of the reed may be needed based upon your instrument and playing style. Suggested adjustments include:

1. Lightly sanding the blades of the reed to help with overall response

2. Opening or closing the tip through adjustment of the diameter of the reed at the first & second wire to adjust intonation

3. lightly sanding the tip of the reed to reduce the blade length to improve stability (with E3 and F3 in mind)
