Yamaha Bassoons

Yamaha bassoons are some of the only Yamaha instruments that are still made exclusively by hand. They are professional-level bassoons that have some of the most consistently high-quality manufacturing in the industry. While less popular in the US, Yamaha bassoons are very popular in Europe and Asia, and have been described as the "bassoon you have before you get your Heckel."

There are two models of Yamaha bassoon available with multiple different configuration options.

811: Described as having a standard body thickness, the 811 is light and responsive, but still a robust sound for orchestral performance. There's a good core to the sound, but it's easy and flexible enough for players who prefer that.

812: The thick wall option, this bassoon has a more robust, powerful sound compared to the 811. Rich in color, it lends itself more to playing in large orchestras.

Either of these models can come as the standard version or in compact cut (designated 811C or 812C).

They can also come pre-built with additional key work options.

The -24 configuration comes with additional key rollers, LH Eb trill, A bridge, RH whisper lock, and silver water tubes, and a body lock. Either model cane have this configuration (811-24 or 812-24), and can additionally be compact cut (811-24C or 812-24C).
