Heckel Bocals
Heckel bassoon bocals are considered by many players to be the best. They can improve the performance of just about any instrument. Through our experience as bassoonists, we can help you match a bocal to your bassoon!
There are many different types of Heckel bocal. MMI regular stocks bocals in lengths 1 and 2. We occasionally have bocals in stock of other lengths.
Main Types:
C: thick wall, hard German silver
CC: thick wall, soft German silver
CD: thin wall, hard Germany silver
Modifiers:
V-: more advanced bore than a main type, raises pitch in tenor register
-R: no stamping on the body bocal, which allows for more compression. Overall, a harder bocal
-XL: improves response in the highest register
Most bocals are available in silver plating. We do sometimes stock bocals in unplated brass, or gold plated bocals. Please inquire about availability.
