Accessory Return & Exchange Policy

RETURN POLICY

We want you to be happy with everything you purchase from Midwest Musical Imports! Non-instrument items may be returned for credit or exchange if postmarked within 14 days of delivery receipt, provided the items have not been altered, damaged or used. The return policy includes most accessory items EXCEPT mouthpieces, barrels, bells, necks, bocals, tube cane, shaper tips, sheet music, non-defective processed cane and reeds. Defective products may be returned with confirmation of defect. MMI should be notified of any defective products immediately following delivery. For returns originating from outside the US, customers are responsible for all shipping and customs costs. Prior authorization is required for ALL returns.

*Ishimori ligatures require special return authorization and terms. Please contact a single reed specialist for more details prior to returning.

INSTRUMENT & BOCAL TRIAL POLICY

A 7-day trial is available and recommended on most instruments and bocals as all sales are final on these items. A reference check, confirmation of matching billing address and credit card information are required prior to shipment. Upon return of trialed items, detected damage such as scratches or dents will result in a repair charge of 5% of the value of the damaged item(s).

*Please note that all accessories included with new instruments should not be used until you’ve paid for the instrument. Customers will be charged the replacement cost of these items if they are used and/or damaged.

ACCESSORY TRIAL POLICY

Select single reed accessories (mouthpieces, barrels, bells, necks and ligatures) are available for a 7-day trial. Trials begin the day they are received and returned items must be postmarked by the 8th day to receive a refund. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer, though an insured return label may be purchased from MMI. Eligible accessories can be purchased directly from our website, or you may contact us by phone or email to set up the trial. A refund will be issued for items in new condition minus shipping charges incurred by the customer and a 4% restocking/cleaning fee. If free shipping was included in the original trial charge, the shipping fee will be deducted from the total amount of the returned items if the final sale amount falls below the free-shipping threshold. There is no restocking fee if a purchase is made. Damaged items, including but not limited to scratches, teeth marks, or bent metal components will be returned to the customer and considered sold.

We are not able to facilitate trials outside of the U.S. at this time.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Instrument Return Policy

We want you to be completely happy with your new (or new to you) instrument that you purchased from us! For this reason, we encourage you to take advantage of our instrument trial period, allowing you the opportunity to try the instruments in your familiar surroundings before purchasing them.

Instruments purchased after an instrument trial period cannot be returned and sales are final. Bocals, saxophone necks, clarinet barrels and mouthpieces are considered part of the instrument, therefore sales are final on these items as well.

If you reside in the US and purchased a new instrument outright from us without a trial (or on our website), we have a strict 7 day return policy for items that are deemed defective. Instrument(s) must be returned in the same condition it was sent; including all wrapped and sealed items. Any damages upon delivery need to be reported immediately to us and properly documented. A 3% return fee for the value of the instrument purchased will be charged to the customer. The instrument must be returned to us using the shipping label we provide you--it will include insurance to get the instrument returned safely. The customer is responsible for paying for the MMI issued shipping label and the customer will be informed of that charge upon receiving the return request. For instruments sent outside the U.S., we cannot accept returns – all sales are final.

Warranty on New Instruments

MMI provides a 2-year crack and 1-year adjustment warranty for most new oboes, English horns, and clarinets, and a 2-year maintenance warranty for most new bassoons. An MMI warranty covers all necessary repairs and routine maintenance during normal wear of the instrument. These repairs include, but are not limited to: crack repair, pad replacement, tuning, re-corking, and mechanism adjustments. Repairs necessary due to abuse, negligence, or incompetent repairs done by outside repair shops are not covered under the warranty. The warranty is only applicable to the original owner of the instrument.

All repairs must be done at MMI or the manufacturer’s location, unless authorized by MMI. Failure to do this may void the warranty. Please call MMI at 800-926-5587 before sending instruments in for repair to the manufacturer or to our shop.

Shipping costs to MMI are to be paid by the customer, and MMI will pay for the shipping costs to return the instrument during the first 6 months after purchase.

Insurance costs are the owner’s responsibility. Please allow at least one or two weeks for repairs. If repair work is being done under warranty, we can offer a rental instrument at half the normal monthly rate, pro-rated to the repair (depending on availability). Turnaround times vary, but we do our best to return instruments as quickly as possible.

Extended Warranty Policy

In addition to the current warranties on the purchase of new instruments, we are now offering the following:

Additional 1-year: $300
Additional 2-year: $550
These extended warranties are only available at the time of purchase of new instruments.
