This Heckel bassoon is almost 100 years old!

This is an interesting bassoon by all accounts. It has a powerful low range especially, and an overall very even scale. Unlike many pre-war instruments, it has some resistance in the response. This provides a great backing to blow against and maximize the tone of the bassoon. It also makes the bassoon feel like a thicker wall instrument.

This bassoon has undergone some refinishing. The stain or lacquer is likely not original. Key work was also changed at some point. This bassoon has a rebuilt RH thumb stack with rollers, a Fox rotary whisper lock, and an added Eb trill key. It is also likely that the high was built after-market.

This bassoon has gone through our repair shop and has our used instrument warranty. The pads are sealing, key work is silent, and it plays great! Both bocals match the instrument well.

The price for this instrument is $25,750 - this includes the check price of $25,000 plus card processing fees.
