This is a very nice example of a Buffet S1 alto saxophone in original lacquer. This S1 did go through our repair shop for a quick check up, and it appears to have been overhauled before coming to us. All of the pads are in great condition, and appear to have very little playing time on them. It has black Roo pads with upgraded silver Maestro Star resonators.

The keywork on S1 saxophones is quite interesting. The low Bb touch-piece is roller-less and the low Eb and C keys have a unique mechanism for adjusting the height of the key spatulas. This S1 does have an high F# key and due to placement of the high F# tone-hole, the neck of this saxophone has a section that has been cut out so it doesn't block the air flow.

There are no signs of major trauma on the body or neck. There is some very light cosmetic wear but the original lacquer is mostly intact. Ships with the original, but still functioning Buffet box-style case.

S1 saxophones have a built in resistance which pairs well with classical setups but it would also be a great choice for anyone who loves the Paul Desmond sound.
