This bassoon is a custom-built 460 for MMI - the "sp" is our designation, and means "special." In addition to the full professional key work of a standard 460, this instrument possesses an Ab-Bb trill key and LH Eb trill key. It boasts a powerful, warm sound and terrific response. It is a great upgrade from any Renard instrument.

The 460 takes its patterning from the 660, a thick-wall, short-bore instrument. It features a Red Maple body, a distinctive stain color, and the long bell configuration. Although the option list is limited, we wanted to offer a well-equipped professional bassoon under the $20K mark, and this bassoon is a great option for someone looking for a newer, professional-level instrument on a budget.
