Fossati A01 & A01N Professional Oboes (A01N Pictured)

The A01 is Fossati's top-of-the-line professional oboe. It is the same as the A01N, but without the monter of pearl keys. This oboe is made of three year old dried grenadilla wood and has a high quality rodium plated mechanism. Conservatory key system which includes: Left F, Low Bb, Bb vent, 3rd octave key, G#-A trill key, forked F resonance, articulated B-C# mechanism, split ring D key, banana key, Bb-B trill. In addition, the A01N incorporates Fossati's new trill key system for the C-D and C-C# trills on the top joint (they operate on the same tone hole). This picture was taken before the new trill system was implemented, so you cannot see it here. Unique Features of the Fossati A01/A01N models:

  1. Keys are covered with rhodium (a precious, non-oxidizing metal) and mother of pearl inlays (A01N). Mother of pearl is especially advantageous if player has trouble with high acidity in hands.
  2. Fossati Trill Key System (registered). Use of 1 instead 2 holes reduces risk of cracks while providing more accurate tuning of trills when combined with BARRET fingering.
  3. Addition of "Philadelphia D," which facilitates high register response and pitch of high d. This is an extra adjusting screw located on the low C key.
  4. Adjustment screws on upper joint are placed closer to the corresponding keys to allow more precise adjustments with less wear on cork and metal.
  5. All keywork is rounded also to avoid wear and tear on keywork & cork.
  6. Connecting lever between low B & Bb keys is not underneath keys, but at bottom of left hand cluster. A problem with one key, then, will not automatically cause problems with the other.
  7. Side octave key has extra adjusting screw to avoid damage to cork of first octave key.
