Holiday Gift Ideas

Looking for the right gift for that woodwind player in your life? Here are some of our most gift-appropriate suggestions from the staff at MMI.

Of course, if nothing below strikes your fancy, or if you don’t know what to get, we do have gift certificates too.

Every double reed player needs cane. It’s one of life’s necessary things. We have cane for bassoonists and oboists in every type, from the initial tube to shaped and ready to be turned into a blank. Not sure what to buy? Call us and we can see what that special double reeder in your life has purchased the most of in the past. Don’t leave out your clarinet or saxophone friends – we carry finished reeds for them too!

Who hasn’t met a double reed maker that wasn’t always excited to get new colors of thread? We have a large selection of colors of Nylon FF thread sure to please the eye.

Once we’ve made a reed, we need somewhere to put it. A new reed case is always a welcome addition to any oboe or bassoonists collection of toys.

It’s certainly a safe bet that a new swab would be a welcome gift to any woodwind player. We carry a variety of styles and colors of swabs for oboe, bassoon, clarinet, and saxophone.

How about a new Hercules instrument stand? We’ve got stands for nearly every woodwind, plus music stands. Don’t forget that the pegs are interchangeable and mount directly on the saxophone, bassoon, and music stands (select models). Don’t worry about the size of the package, we’re covering the shipping anyway! (US only, through December 31, 2012)

And of course, if you want to get really fancy, a Landwell knife will be the pride of any double reed player’s reed making kit. Double Hollow Ground are the most popular style, although many bassoonists in particular prefer the Beveled style.
